"Princess Reborn" is a fast-paced, thrilling graphic novel. Chapter One is about how seventh grader Lari learns that her mom is different! She has special powers and so does Lari. It puts their whole family in danger, which makes this graphic novel a great read for MY whole family. I loved it and so did my 11-year-old son! Wonderful graphics pull you in and the story builds to a crushing climax! I can't wait for the next chapter!!!
Princess Reborn is a superhero story. And even better? Female superheroes. We don't get to see much of them as their male counterparts, do we? So this immediately scored brownie points for that.
It's a very slim novel and considering that it's a graphic novel, a quick one, too.
Seventh grader Lari has always suspected there's something strange about her mother, who has maintained a discreetness about her past ever since she can remember. What Lari doesn't realise is that there are bigger secrets and conspiracies at work than she can imagine. And it all builds up to a pulse-racing climax.
I cannot elaborate much for fear of giving anything crucial away. And there's a lot of that - crucial details.
Princess Reborn Chapter 1 is filled with action, suspense and a lot of excitement from start to finish. It is very well illustrated and structured - which means that I didn't have following the conversation bubbles which I sometimes have. I think the illustrations capture the action sequences particularly well.
The only thing that frustrated me is the ending. It ends on such a cliffhanger. And I'm not a fan of the big cliffhangers. They bug me to no end. I guess the fact that this is just 'Chapter 1' implies there's a long adventure to come and I have to wait for Chapter 2 before I get the answers to at least some of the questions raised.
Overall, this was fun to read. I let my 14 year old brother read it after me. He enjoyed it and called it 'exciting'. So if you are a graphic novel nerd or know someone who is, here's a new recommendation to consider picking up next time you have hours to kill )

Excellent! As a teacher, I'm always looking for books to recommend, and Princess Reborn (Chapter 1) gets two thumbs up. Lee Tidball's graphic novel has it all, and would be an ideal holiday gift for the ten-to-thirteen age bracket.
The story skilfully balances action, suspense, drama and humor. Princess Reborn gives us Lari, a typical tween who struggles with school bullies and family secrets. Curious, smart, independent and funny, she will appeal to many readers.
Ultimately, I was entertained and intrigued, and definitely eager to read more chapters in what will certainly be a satisfying series. Write on, Mr. Tidball!
My Review This is a graphic novel for comic book fans, teens and young adults. I really don't review comic books but decided to give this one a try. This comic novel is full of actions, drama and suspense. Lari knows that there is something different about her mother that she seems to keep a secret but why, has it anything to do with her secret?
A story about super powers, werewolf and villains, time to save the world!
